Campaign
As part of REMAL project, we are launching a national awareness campaign to highlight the issues of solid waste and marine litter in Lebanon, while encouraging local authorities and communities to take proactive measures to reduce their plastic footprint. The campaign promotes behavioural change and mobilizes community action to prevent marine litter.
In partnership with local organizations, the campaign includes a variety of awareness-raising events held across Lebanon, such as:
-
Awareness sessions
Awareness sessions for fishermen cooperatives, highlighting the impact of waste on marine ecosystems.
-
Clean beach campaign
A national beach clean-up campaign along the Lebanese coast.
-
Education and training
CANA CNRS-L Research Vessel visits for children aged 11–14, aimed at addressing marine research and conservation knowledge gaps; A competition for university students to foster innovation in solid waste management.
Updates and success stories from our events and stakeholder meetings will be shared through social media, local media, and our project website.
By the end of the project, we hope to reduce the amount of plastic waste generated per person in the project areas by 5%, and also lower the cost of street cleaning by the same amount.
