1. What is it about?
The ICM is designed to address any potential negative impacts of the REMAL project.
It also deals with reports of improper use of funds or retaliation related to REMAL.
The mechanism is based at Zukunft – Umwelt – Gesellschaft (ZUG) gGmbH.
2. Who can file a complaint?
People who may suffer potential negative social and/or environmental consequences from the REMAL project.
Those who wish to report the improper use of funds or acts of retaliation in the context of the REMAL project.
Employees of implementing organisations who wish to ‘whistleblow’ on project-related harm.
3. How is a complaint processed?
The ICM accepts complaints in any language and assesses their eligibility.
If eligible, the ICM facilitates a voluntary problem-solving process to identify and agree on solutions.
If problem-solving is not feasible or effective, the ICM conducts a compliance appraisal and may investigate to determine any non-compliance with IKI policies and recommend redress.
Investigations are led by an independent expert panel.
