We are guided by the Waste Wise Cities Tool (WaCT) through seven steps to collect data on municipal solid waste (MSW) generated, collected, and managed in controlled facilities. The tool provides a household survey guide to assess total MSW generation, a questionnaire to identify the MSW recovery chain, and criteria to evaluate the environmental control level of waste management facilities in a city.

The WaCT results will form the foundation for preparing a strategic plan, which in turn will support sound decision-making on waste management reforms, investments, and operations.
